Rebecca Mellor

Dr Rebecca Mellor is an assistant curator working with the Science Museum Group Collection at Blythe House. Her research interests include classical reception studies, sexual history through the lens of visual arts, digital humanities, and the history of censorship.

The 2 January marks the birthday of a pioneer and trailblazer in the world of STEM and in the fight for equality for members of the transgender community. Lynn Conway’s inventions and methods revolutionised computer engineering and how we teach computer science, influencing how we engage with computers to this day.

Today, on Katherine Johnson’s 104th birthday, we celebrate her groundbreaking work and the hugely impactful contributions she made towards the Apollo 11 mission in 1969 and many more projects throughout her career working at NASA.
